What’s in store for 2023?
Smart Platforms had a great year in 2022. We owe this to our loyal staff and customers. This year, we are striving for continuous improvement right across the business. All this with the customer in mind: convenient processes, clear communication and bespoke machines. We worked really hard last year to implement new efficiencies designed to keep the cost down, and this is reflected in our competitive hire rates. We are always searching for innovative new ways of doing things. Last year, we implemented paperless handovers, as a means of increasing efficiency. Furthermore, our staff across the company completed various training courses, so we can continue to offer the latest industry information and effectively assist with your enquiries. Our engineers will be undertaking multiple manufacturer training courses in 2023.
To date, we have the largest fleet of vehicle-mounted access platforms in the country. This year, we are once again investing heavily in new equipment, so we can continue to offer a wide array of readily-available access platforms. These additional vehicle mounts will be spread evenly across our seven depots, in Southampton, Hemel Hempstead, Dartford, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester and Sheffield.
The new additions will include more hybrids, the exciting new machines that allow the boom to be operated in all-electric mode, which helps to reduce CO2 and noise pollution. We will be increasing the number of V12s in the fleet, which is always a customer favourite. We are also increasing our fleet-topping 56m machines.
We strive to keep our vehicle mounts new and well-maintained. In fact, the average age of a machine in our fleet is just 2.5 years. Ex-fleet cherrypickers will be available for purchase, refreshed, inspected and supplied with a new loler. Contact us for more details.
Our business model
We are now in our 20th year of trading as a business. This is a milestone that we owe to our loyal staff and customers. The same values that were important to us back in 2002, are important to us now: access you control. We are proud to be the UK’s leading supplier of self-drive vehicle-mounted access platforms. Our mission is to provide an alternative to traditional access, such as self-propelled, scissor lifts and scaffolding.
It is our belief that vehicle-mounted cherrypickers offer more autonomy than any other access platform on the market. Our machines are built on compact 3.5-tonne vehicles, that can be driven on the road on a standard car license. This means that when your work is done, you can simply fold the machine away, and drive off-site at your own leisure. This eliminates the need to wait around for your cherry picker to be delivered and collected. It also gets rid of the standard three-day minimum hire associated with other forms of access. Instead, you can hire your machine self-drive on a single-day basis. You can complete multiple jobs, on multiple sites and drop the machine back with us when you’re ready.
True control over your access solution
It doesn’t get much more convenient than finishing your day’s work and leaving your machine on your drive, ready for the next day. We also offer AM returns and PM collects. This means that drop-off and collection times fit around you, and not the other way around. We have seven depots across the country, each approximately five minutes from the nearest major motorway. This makes it easy for you to pick up and drop off your machine. That said, we can also deliver to your site or office, and collect the machine again when you’re done, should this be a more convenient option.
We provide full handover familiarisations before you leave our depots. So, you will leave feeling confident with how the machine works. We always make sure that you are confident with the functions before you leave. However, we can also facilitate full IPAF training courses. You will be in and out of our depots in no time, and on your way to work. Should you ever need support, we have professional engineers on call 24/7.
Would you prefer an operator?
We provide that too. Whether during the week, at weekends, during the night, at the crack of dawn, whatever suits you. We will arrive at your specified location, at your desired time. Our IPAF-qualified operators will arrive, with the machine of your choice, to fulfil your scheduled work.
More flexibility, increased efficiency, and decreased time on site, all add up to more time for the important things. With your access solutions working around you, this leaves more time, this year, for the things that matter most.
