Looking to hire a cherry picker in Sheffield or South Yorkshire? Our depot offers a range of self-drive truck-mounted access platforms from 11m to 27m, ideal for short or long-term hire. Whether you’re working in Sheffield city centre, Rotherham, Barnsley, or Chesterfield, Smart Platforms makes powered access simple and flexible. All machines are under 3.5 tonnes and drivable on a standard licence, with quick access from the M1 and A61.

From signage and lighting to roofing and tree work, our fleet gives you complete control over your day — collect early, return late, or upgrade as your job changes. We’re five minutes from the motorway and offer full engineer handovers on every hire.

Head Northwest on M1.
Junction 34, Use the left 2 lanes to take the A6178 exit to Sheffield/Rotherham/Meadowhall.
At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Sheffield Rd/A6178.
Take the 1st exit onto A6178 at the roundabout.
Turn left onto Surbiton St.

from M62 (via M1 North)

Head East on M62.
Junction 30, take the A642 exit to Rothwell/Wakefield.
At the roundabout, take the 4th exit onto the M62 slip road to M1/Leeds/Dewsbury/Manchester.
Merge onto M62, at junction 29, Use the left 2 lanes to exit towards London/Wakefield.
Then Merge onto M1, at junction 34, take the A6109 exit to Rotherham/Meadowhall/Sheffield.
At the roundabout, take the 4th exit onto Meadowhall Rd/A6109.
Turn left onto Meadowhall Way.
Then Turn left onto Weedon St.
Slight right to stay on Weedon St.
Turn right at the 1st cross street onto Attercliffe Common/A6178.
and Turn left onto Surbiton St.

How does self-drive cherry picker hire work?

Simply register with us, book your machine, and collect it from one of our depots. If you’re using our Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), you’ll need your driving licence and National Insurance number. One of our engineers will walk you through a full handover before you hit the road.

Do you offer one-day or overnight hire?

Yes. You can hire for a single day (7:30am–5:30pm), or choose a 24-hour slot via PM collection (5:00pm) or AM return (7:00am) — perfect if you just need it overnight.

How much does it cost to hire a self-drive cherry picker?

Our self-drive cherry picker hire starts from £130 per day using your own insurance. If you’d like to use our CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) cover, this adds £47 per day (£65 for the S27).

What sizes of self-drive cherry pickers do you offer?

We offer a range of machines from 10m to 27m. With different platform styles and boom configurations, we’ll help match you with the right unit for the job.

Can I return in the morning or collect in the evening?

Yes. We offer AM returns (7:00am) and PM collections (5:00pm). This gives you up to 24 hours on-site without paying for an extra day — but we do recommend booking in advance as these slots can get taken.

I attended a training course at the depot and found the staff was really friendly and the course was very professional and enjoyable. We hired 2 different cherry pickers for a project to put Swift boxes onto 110 houses across Derbyshire. Staff were excellent to deal with and the machines were excellent. Even the older of the 2 machines worked really well. I've hired many cherry pickers over the last 30 years and these were as good as I've used.
